I have two photos...one that is 15 years old and another taken yesterday. I would like to place them side by side to show a "before and after" type setting. Can I do that with iphoto on my Macbook Pro?? Thanks..

No. You'll need a 3rd party image editor or Pages, Bean (in Rich Text mode).

A quick-and-dirty way to do that would be to select your two photos in the event or in an album and then print them as a contact sheet with two columns. Print the contact sheet to pdf, with the setting "Save pdf to a folder as jpeg".
Import the saved jpeg back to iPhoto, rotate it, and crop it to the size you want.
