Paste Attributes Not Working

Hello,

I am color grading a film in 10.0.9 and all of a sudden the paste attributes has stopped working.

When I click paste attributes, it looks like it renders the file. The paste attribute box does not come up.

I have tried trashing preferences, deleting rendered files, re-installing fcpx, copying all the project files to a new project. ..nothing is solving this.

It's driving me crazy! Any help much appreciated!

I have just experienced this problem in fcpx 10.1

I edited a clip and was able to paste the settings, but when I tried to copy another set of settings from a different clip the paste feature stopped working. I went back to the first clip and attempted to copy its settings to a new clip and FCPX did work with that clip. It was only the settings in my second clip that FCPX wasn't liking.

The difference between the two clips was the Pan Mode setting in the Volume and Pan dialog box. When the Pan Mode was set to Dialog, FCPX would not allow me to copy any of the settings. When I changed it back to None, FCPX's paste settings feature was restored.

Solution for me: Set the pan mode to None, copy the settings and paste to all desired clips. Then change the Pan Mode back to my desired Dialog setting with ALL clips selected to apply the setting to all of the clips.

It is possible that there are other settings FCPX will not paste, so if you are experiencing this problem you simply need to isolate which one is causing your problem and then apply that setting manually.

Hope that works for you.

Though you found a workaround, this looks like a bug to me.

There is a definitly a bug which I can replicate with the Copy and Paste Attributes command where it doesn't work if there is an audio enhancement applied to the clip being copied - if there is then the paste attributes command will not function or work at all! With no audio enhancement modifications then the copy and past attributes works fine...

Yeah something is messed up here. I have the simplest of timelines going here. The original footage was shot on Panasonic P2 AVC50 imported as optimized media. Two simple interviews cut together. Nothing fancy going on; a clip of one int'w, a clip from the other, back and forth. The clips needed some color grading so I graded one clip and am trying to just paste the color attributes to subsequent clips from the same interview and I am getting nothing in the way of a paste attributes window. I've trashed prefs a couple of times and even reinstalled FCPX.

Maddening.

Upon further review, I see that the one project I was trying to do color grading was--natch--the one project that would not allow pasting attributes. Other projects I am able to. In fact, I updated a project or two from FCPX 10.9 (the offending project was native to 10.1.1) and I was able to affect paste attributes on those.

Further maddening
