Slick Transitions in FCPX
If Slick Transitions don't work in FCPX, does FCPX provide substitute ways of smoothly going from one slide to the next?

Crossfade?
Crossfade?
You should download the trial version and see if it suits you're needs.
Is it possible to show movement in my slides by using FCPX like I used to do in Final Cut Express by operating Photomotion provided by Gee Three?
There is a built in Ken Burns crop effect which may do what you want.
Is it in the Trial version somewhere, or do I have to look elsewhere for Ken Burns crop effect?
I also miss having Fade In / Fade out in FCPX. It can be achieved by separating two or more clips by about 3 or 4 frames, outling them and double clicking the Crossfade transition. This is especially useful with titles and credits.
I miss having the Gee Three effects since moving to FCPX!
Hi Frank,
The Ken Burns effect is not actually in the effects browser, you can find it by clicking crop in the viewer and choosing Ken Burns. Here's a Ken Burns Quick Tip from Kevin P McAuliffe, skip to 2:40 to get to the good stuff-

why not simply using FCPX built in Fade To Color?
… and it allows not only to fade to black, but to white (or any other color) too, to create those 'flashy' cross dissolves (pun intended).
Karsten,
My titles and credits are usually displayed over a moving texture such as Drift from LiveType.
Your suggestion would work if I used a solid back-ground for the text.

my suggestion was meant on the topic of this thread - … 😉
You lost me in the middle:
you don't want to dissolve btw. two clips, but btw. two titles ?
Titles are on transparent bg, no colors involved, so …??
Or, do you mean like that:
in FCPX' list of titles, there's one called Dissolve
in its optional settings (info pane), preset is 'per character', which gives a nice animation.
in my example, the title is just a word, so I set to 'word' (could be the whole line)
=> as you can see, the title is faded (lower right: the full 100%)
… over 'animated' background, aka video clips of whatever nature ....
.... or me lost in translation again? 😟
Karsten,
I'm not sure if we are on the same page.
Below is how I do fade in / fade out for my titles and credits.
This the ending of one of my videos. I use yellow Basic Text over a moving, blue blackground. Each text clip is seperated by 4 frames. I then select all four, double click cross dissolve. The text will fade in/out of the background.
The effect is very pleasing and effective.

… we are, we are!
My mistake: the title I'd like to recommend has a diff. name,
… shows how I'm using it and demoes some fading title under water …
Using the 'Fade' title makes it obsolete to apply 'pauses' and disolves and whatsoever.
The whole 'trick' is, to customize it, instead of pre-set 'character' animation, I select 'line'.
In my example, I set-up title#1, then copy/paste it (including the spell error…) - done.
Works for me faster …
Karsten,
I like the way you suggested. Below is a link to one of my outros. Since some occupies two lines, I had to build out from center. Looks great!

I'm a huge fan of those 'breathing edits' - fade in, fade out, fade in, fade out ... mostly seen in Trailers for horror, scifi and other dystopia movies. 😁
So, I was lucky, somebody else showed me these (hidden) settings - I don't like 'dancing' titles, but those fade-ones are exactly my taste. Same time, I noticed that fade-thru-color dissolve, I mentioned above - another good one to make an edit 'breath'....
btw: your nature recordings? … nice area, with such flora&fauna …
happy movie making!
Thankyou for your help Karsten.
