why does numbers delete the first 0 of every number

I am trying to enter my bank details, phone number etc into a spreadsheet sent to me by a customer in order to register as a supplier but numbers keeps deleting the first '0' of every number.

I imagine the spreadsheet was authored in excel originally. Is there anyway to stop numbers doing this.

These people owe me several thousand pounds and I need to be able to inovice them.....HELP!

enter numbers that start with a "0" with a preceeding single quote. e.g. if the number is "010 123 456789"

enter " '010 123 456789"

or format the cell as text using the inspector:
