Q: How does Apple prevent unauthorized downloads to unauthorized devices?

I have had 2 notifications in the past month of downloads associated with my apple ID which I did NOT authorize.  I did the usual change the password deal twice. Device that received the download is NOT listed as an authorized device!

This appears to be a significant weakness in the Apple security!  If a device needs to be authorized to be associated with an Apple ID, then it should be listed on authorized devices....sounds simple enough...Any Suggestions?

Only computers need to be authorised to your account and are included in the count of authorisations, iOS devices (iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches) aren't included in that count. For the 'manage devices' section, neither a computer (though a computer needs to be authorised) nor a device has to be listed in that section to be able to buy new items, it needs to have iTunes Match, automatic downloads or have re-downloaded past purchases on it before it might appear there.

If you don't have any other devices that aren't listed in the 'manage devices' section, and neither do any family members with devices that are linked to your account, then you could report it to iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
