Freaky story... HELP! Am I being hacked?

Couple days ago I was at a cafe in the neighbourhood, internet connection via mobile WiFi device.

Everything on my MacBook was as usual until a few minutes later:

1. mouse pointer started to move randomly, with random clicks

2. USB mouse works, but very glitchy due to the random moves

3. trackpad seemed almost disabled, very little to no control

4. I unplugged the USB mouse, pointer still did the weird moves

And here's where it gets freaky.

At first I panicked, but after a while I calmed down and just let the mouse pointer move, just to see what it was doing.

AND I FOUND OUT IT WASN'T RANDOM AT ALL.

It did things like:

1. Right-click and engage a submenu

2. Moved the pointer to a certain link in the browser window, and clicked it

It seemed absolutely human-controlled, and very possibly voyeuring my screen,

although it did not seem like it was trying to achieve a certain goal, like try to find credit card numbers and such.

I freaked out and turned my MacBook and mobile WiFi off.

Next few days working at home using the same WiFi, everything is back to normal.

So here are my questions:

1. Could this be a hack/prank through my mobile WiFi device of some sort? Is such thing possible?

2. Is it possible this hack is location-dependent, since I don't get hacked now that I'm home?

3. If this happens again, what are some things I can do to test if it's an actual hack?

4. What can I do to prevent this?

Thanks for your time.
