Q: How do you get an iphone 5 unlocked that the carrier will not unlock

I bought an iphone 5 independently from my carrier Orange. Now my contract has expired they won't unlock the phone. How do you unlock it officially?

By persuading Orange to unlock it. It's locked to a carrier. The carrier has to unlock it.

ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. If they will not do so, then you're out of luck. It can't be legitimately unlocked.
