Trouble Installing New Fonts: Is It A Big Problem?

I got a new laptop, and I'm trying to install some of the extra fonts that I had been using on our desktop Macs. On both the original desktop and new laptop Macs, I am using Microsoft Word:Mac (although this one is a slightly newer version).

I am having trouble with 2 of the fonts....the rest installed fine.
Both of them are .TTF files (just like all the others I've installed).

What happens is, when I view the fonts, and then go to click "Install Font", a "Font Validation" table pops up. The font file has a red x next to it, and it says this means "Serious problems were found. Do not use this font." (Keep in mind that this font worked fine on my other computer.)

Closer examination of the validation shows that every other part of the font passed inspection (with a check next to it) EXCEPT for "Font Name Table". And if I attempt to install anyway, then it gives me a warning box that tells me "Are you sure you want to install the selected fonts? Serious problems were found with these fonts that may cause system problems or even crashes if installed."

I really want to use this font on my laptop, and I know I've used it before without trouble. I have also tried looking for different versions, but with no luck....everything I find is the same.

What I want to know is: How serious is this problem?
Will an error with the "Font Name Table" actually crash my computer, or is the system simply over-reacting in this instance? Can I install the font? Or is there some way that I can edit it to fix the problem?

Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

If you have used this font without problems in OS X in the past, there is no reason not to install it now. Personally I have not found that the warnings you refer to are reliable for any practical use.

Lots of weird things can happen with bad fonts. Better to find new versions of them or use Suitcase Fusion, which is a font manager that also has Font Doctor in it for repairing fonts. You can download a 30 day free trial and see if it will repair the fonts.
