Q: Apple TV keeps getting kicked off network, but internet is fine! Help!

When I am connected to Apple TV with any of my devices (iPod 3Gen, iPad 3Gen, iPhone 4, or Macbook Pro Retina) my ATV will disconnect itself from the network. I have to unplug it and reboot to work. Sometimes it will work for hours, other times it works for 10 minutes. I purchased almost a year ago and it started happening a few months after purchasing. I don't know what's wrong but I can tell you its frustrating to pay so much for these conveniences to have them break down!

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

    Hello LandryJT,

I would be concerned too if my Apple TV was constantly dropping a connection and causing me to power cycle.  I recommend taking a look at the following articles for an issue like this:

    Apple TV: Troubleshooting wireless connections

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1595

iOS and OS X: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

    Best,

    Sheila M.

Thanks for trying to help, but I have gone through all troubleshooting.

    I've tried:

    • restarting.
    • restarting my modem.
    • upgrading internet speed and providers.
    • Not using a private router. Using one installed my internet provider.
    • Setting AppleTV on the floor so nothing would interfere with the antennae.

I'm able to connect to the internet using other devices, reliably over wireless, however not using the appletv.

Now, I can't see the wireless network at all (btw its a publicly broadcast network, with password set my internet provider). Last night, everything was fine (as it can be with my problems with this). Watched Netflix and then used AirPlay through my MBP, and it froze on my TV, but was still playing on MBP. I haven't been able to connect to my wireless since then. I'm connected using my MBP though, so it's not my wireless.

When I restart it, it automatically goes to "setting date and time..." and if I leave it on that screen, eventually the screen saver pops on.

I'm convinced there is something wrong with the device.

    I'm having similar issues.

I have 3 Apple TVs. Two of them are 2nd gen but I have constant problems with my 3rd gen dropping of my wifi network.

If I reboot it'll work fine for maybe a day or so but if I airplay simething it'll stop streaming after about 10mins

    Very frustrating

Both Apple TV 2s very reliable

I am having the same problem with my Apple TV3Gen.  My iOS and Macs connect fine.  Sometimes it connects, but then refuses.

I have an Apple Time Capsule for wifi. Updated the firmware when problem first happened about a month ago.  Hope Apple has a fix.
