You cannot freehand sketch, print or write in Pages. You need a different app for that.
Many Notes apps offer that
Noteshelf, Notes Anytime, Remarks, Notebook+, Notability, Pen & Paper, Bamboo paper, - there are literally dozens if not hundreds of such apps in the App Store.
OSX has come with a technology called Ink, since I think OSX 10.3, which does what you are looking for or something similar.
It requires a suitable input device such as a Wacom tablet. Not sure if it works with a Touch pad and your finger.
The controller of Ink is a Preference Pane, but you won't see it unless you have the suitable device attached.
Failing that use Pages' Pen Drawing tool at the foot of the Shapes menu, or a Paint program, there are several in the Mac App Store.

Peter,
I would like to hear from someone who is actually using INK with Pages. The last time I ran that down I determined that iWork didn't support it.

It's been a while but I thought Ink works at a system level and is just another input method.
I have a Wacom tablet stashed away somewhere, it was too slow for me, I'll see if I can find it.
Peter
Peter,
Thanks. No rush, but I'm curious to hear what you find.
Jerry
Hopefully my Wacom! 🙂 It has to be in there somewhere.
