Clickwheel iPod in Disk Utility, but not iTunes

I have a click wheel ipod I havent used in a few years. I charged it up and it still plays all my music great, I wanted to update the music so I plugged it into my mac system to sync and it shows up in Disk Utiltiy and starts charging, I can browse the folders in finder, but cannot get it to show up in iTunes 11.

Any idea how I get iTunes to recognize this ipod?

Thanks!!

The latest iTunes may hide the sidebar (left side of window). To show the sidebar, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.

When you connect the iPod, it should appear in the sidebar, under the heading DEVICES. It does not appear there?

It sounds like the iPod is in Disk Mode, which is normally enabled using this procedure

To leave Disk Mode and put the iPod back into normal operation, you do a regular Reset, which is this procedure

A Reset just restarts the iPod. So you can try doing a Reset, if you have not already.
