CNN App Not Pushing Alerts

I have a new iPhone and I installed the CNN app from the app store. When I opened the app for the first time, I was asked if I wanted to allow CNN to push notifications to me. I answered NO. My wife uses the app on her phone and she told me I should have answered Yes. Turning on Notifications in the Notification settings did not fix the problem. I figured if I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it, I would be able to answer the questions again. When I go to the app store to download, the option to download has been replaced by cloud. I would like to receive the notifications from this app, please help. Also, I know I have done the same thing with another app or two and would like to know how to fix it for those as well.
