Q: Itunes match stuck at sending information to apple

Anyone else having issues tonight? Once a week the iTunes match seems to auto run the info gathering and send to apple. Normally it works fine although can be a but slow to get a response from apple sometimes. Tonight it just won't go past 'sending information to apple'. Each time I start iTunes it gathers the info to try again. Anyone else getting similar? My library has not changed in weeks so it can't be anything like that. I guess server issues at apples end?

Cheers

Wayne

Yesterdays Itunes update did not solve the itunes match problem as promised. I then spoke to the senior advisor who said the fix was coming with this update. He said to reinstall my operating system which I did. Not only is itunes match working fast again, not hanging up it also solved a mail issue that I had. restart computer while holding down command R

Let's be honest with ourselves here -- any application that gets itself into a state where it requires a full OS reinstall to fix is clearly not fit for purpose.

As a 'paid' service, iTunes Match has clearly not been fit for purpose since its launch. No amount of snake oil, laborious and (frankly) tenuous workarounds, or end-user perseverence is going to change that. Only the iTunes developers can fix this problem *properly*, and I've seen little indication over the last year to suggest that they are interested in doing so. I can't really see them taking much interest in this issue until it annoys people so much that they decide that this is not a service worth paying for, and opt not to renew their subscription.

For my part, my current subscription will be up for renewal this summer. I'll re-assess the situation then, to decide whether this is a service worth continuing to pay for. Based on the current (and historical) state of the service, it's not looking positive. This is a shame -- iTunes Match would be a great service if only it worked reliably.

    +100

I seriously doubt that reinstalling OS X really fixed anything, other than to cause a complete reset of iTunes Match (similar to turning off and turning back on, which as discussed above does appear to function as a work-around).

Enough of those programmers who  sell us new version of software that are buggy! Who should test the softs before delivering them??? Apple is realy too proud of his products! I don't want to follow a installation procedure to be told at the end "well, the solution is to do it again, to remove this and that; to reinstall, and then it will work". 2-3-4 hours wasted for what result? Ah, yes... One result is making me checking for another solution than itunes on the cloud!

I am sorry to report that after reinstalling OSX after 4 days of itunes match working fine again it is now getting stuck in the sending mode again. It still fixed a mail issue I was having so I am glad I did the reinstall. I am starting to believe with everyone else that this issue will never be fixed

Ha ha ha... I love how everyone is told to re-install the OS and all will be well.  Reminds me of the old days with Microsoft Windows, where every solution was to wipe the hard drive and reinstall.

    Hello,

I'm located in Spain and I'm able to use this service just in the morning (Madrid UTC + 1). I have been checking the problem and from 2pm onwards (New York 9am - San Francisco 6am) iTunes Match starts to fail and after 8pm (New York 3pm - San Francisco 12pm) the service is completely unusable, it remains stuck in "sending information to apple".

Of course, if I turn off itunes Match and then I turn on again, the services works just once.

I've tested the service with different ADSL providers and the result is always the same.

I've reinstalled the latest version of OSX (10.9.2) and I'm experiencing the same problem.

I'm planning to move to Amazon Cloud Player because I've been checking the free version and it works flawesly.

It's a shame that apple offers this service as a "mature" service.

    Best Regards,

    Rubén.

Same problem here on all my machines!

Don't worry though guys, the monkeys at Apple will completely ignore the issue and deny all responsibility whilst us fools keep paying them for a not-fit-for-purpose service...just like they have always done.

Oh and don't ever believe they give a crap - they don't!

Today I've been talking to Apple Care and they told me that this is a software issue.

They asked me for sending a complain through https://www.apple.com/es/contact/feedback.html

It seems that this forum is not supervised for any Apple representative, we don't get any feedback from their side

    sad but true

Oh I dunno. I posted something in this thread several months ago, and it was deleted by a moderator within a couple of minutes. It seems that Apple representatives are watching these discussions very keenly, as long as you're not expecting them to, y'know, actually *help* with anything!

Seriously, though, if this is a 'confirmed' software issue, I'd be interested in the timeline for a fix. However, I came to the conclusion that this was a server-side issue a long time ago, so I won't be holding my breath for a software fix.

Yes, it seems that the problem is located in the server side, but apple remains quiet about this issue, it's completely

unacceptable that a paid service works as a beta service.
