Q: Itunes match stuck at sending information to apple

Anyone else having issues tonight? Once a week the iTunes match seems to auto run the info gathering and send to apple. Normally it works fine although can be a but slow to get a response from apple sometimes. Tonight it just won't go past 'sending information to apple'. Each time I start iTunes it gathers the info to try again. Anyone else getting similar? My library has not changed in weeks so it can't be anything like that. I guess server issues at apples end?

Cheers

Wayne

I, too, am having the same issue.

I'm on OS X 10.9.2. So far, I've reset my SMC, PRAM, reinstlaled iTunes, removed the cache, reinstalled Safari, and restored from an earleir time machine that I knew worked.

    Something isn't right here.

This has happened a couple of times in the last year that I know of. I'm pretty sure it isn't anything you're doing, sometimes their servers just go crap for a while and nothing helps permanently. Yes, signing in and out sometimes helps, sometimes doesn't. But then suddenly it'll be back to normal and it won't be anything you've done. They'll never admit it of course. It's easier for them to tell you to reformat your whole system. At least it makes you go away and stop bothering them for a day or two.

Hear hear. I think Andrew may have hit the nail on the head.

(Except that, of course, many of us have found that this problem rears its ugly head much more frequently than a couple of times in a year.)

I too have had this same issue for quite some time now.

iTunes Match will hang on this step for as much as one hour.

I have been back and forth with Apple support for almost two months.

I have spoken with three Senior advisors, and had my network data collected three times.

As it stands, after reviewing my data, the engineers sent me two common responses.

First they said it was network congestion due to the time of day.

Then they said it was due to my provider, needing to allocate more bandwith to the popularity of the service.

For the record, I have a high bandwith connection that is deicated to my house,

And I have 0 issues with any other network services.

After numerous troubleshooting, everything attempted, this has to be a server side issue.

The iTunes matching process more specifically, the "sending information to Apple" step,

Will sometimes take 1-2 seconds, but more often will hang for over 20 mintues, sometimes one hour.

Last night this sending step took 45 minutes, this afternoon, the sending step took 1-2 seconds.

iTunes Match has always worked for me in the past, I have been a subscriber since it's launch.

I have an Apple eco system for the entire house, network included, with no firewall or anything else interfering.

As a paying customer who has devoted quite a bit of time trying to solve this problem, this is unacceptable.

This thread is almost one year old from people all over the world, with no official response.

My advice is to call Applecare and report this issue, direct them to this thread.

Also I don't know if this is the best way to file a complaint, but please use this feedback form.

I myself have had my case open about the issue regarding iTunes Match hanging for almost two months.

I am stuck on "Sending information to Apple..."

This happens every time I use iTunes.  Very annoying.

Yep, it's gone to pot again for me. I think it does the match thing every friday for me. Last few weeks it's taken a while but eventually goes through. Tonight it's constantly stuck on the 'sending info to apple'. Nothing seems to be pushing it through.

And then just as I am about to hit add reply on this post it suddenly works. Go figure, that;'s only taken 7 attempts and leaving it for twenty mins at a time.

This happens far too often though - I can understand server issues on rare occasions but this seems to be most of the time

I'm sorry but this does not fix the problem, it just puts off the inevitable...IE the problem coming back again.

what i did was signed out from itunes.

    closed itunes ,

relaunched itunes, signed and turned back itunes match it solved my problem,

what you can do i guess is after signing out, quit itunes shut down computer (not restart) and then try the process.

Yup, I have to turn off iTunes Match and turn it back on to get it to work. I have to do this for EVERY song I add to my library, one by one.

mines now started getting stuck when i add music and it automatically updates. then i restart it manually, and it completes fine.

this has happened every time i've added music in the last few days, although it does seem to have just completed an auto update (no music added) on it's own in the last few minutes.

AAMOI i've changed metadata straight away in the past, despite the warning box appearing with no ill effects.

Yes... after disconnecting from iTunes match, I am back to ripping CDs and downloading from HDTracks without waiting or pull out my hair.  I had some work to do to clean up library issues caused by using iTunes Match from the beginning (e.g. some tracks had duplicate copies in the cloud with subtle naming differences, for example: "Art Of Noise" vs. "Art of Noise").

But now that I've disabled match on my devices, It's like how iTunes used to work, except it's faster now with a larger library.

I'm never going back to Match because I am confident that iTunes Match will never work well for people that obtain media from places other than the iTunes Store.

    +1

I was going to mention that, but didn't want to appear too inflamatory.  Google Play is a joy to use on mobile devices (fantastic user interface).
