Q: Itunes match stuck at sending information to apple

Anyone else having issues tonight? Once a week the iTunes match seems to auto run the info gathering and send to apple. Normally it works fine although can be a but slow to get a response from apple sometimes. Tonight it just won't go past 'sending information to apple'. Each time I start iTunes it gathers the info to try again. Anyone else getting similar? My library has not changed in weeks so it can't be anything like that. I guess server issues at apples end?

Cheers

But Apple are a joke - a big fat arrogant joke.  Everything they spew out now is not fit for purpose!  There is no doubt in my mind that the QoS has gone down the pan during the last few years.  Is it any wonder they are being trounced by the competition in virtually every field now?

I decided to cancel my subscription.  In times of Spotify and its 20 million songs, I do have a better service with them!

Funny how there are no solutions to this - probably because there isn't one. Isn't it fraudulent to sell something thet does not work?

I did a feedback / complaint yesterday and was surprised to receive a phone call from the US. Apparently the engineers are looking at this thread and they wanted me to explain more about it. Obviously I cannot provide crash logs etc as itunes isnt crashing or hanging, its perfectly responsive but this is becoming an annoyance, every week when it does its thing and it takes several attempts to work, leaving it for minutes or hours. Of course now been trying for three days and it wont go through which indicates server side its getting worse. Hopefully they will look at it in some more detail. I dont want to switch match off on my PC but its annoying that every time I launch it, it goes through its sequence and never completes.

So I've done the  sign-out/sign-in     thing three times so far and it has always worked for me.

It's (obviously) not a permanent fix, but it does get it going for a bit

The sign-out/sign-in routine works for me too, though not always.

Actually I was dubious of some suggestions as didn't want to risk unsettling match as it works great on my apple tv. However I did stop match and then selected update match and lo and behold it went straight through and delivered the results. I guess its as said only a temporary fix and we still really need apple to address this.

Thanks for doing the overpaid Apple techs job for them :-)

I submitted an online request.  I have too tried workarounds.  Happens on both Mac and Windows clients.  Nothing sticks.  Getting a little irritated since this is a paid service and pay premium money for apple devices.

I even tried making a entirely new iTunes library and this works to download songs but for uploading to match I run into the same hours of "sending information to Apple". I have left it the computer alone for hours with no other process's running only to have it stall at "sending information to Apple".

As stated many times on this thread the only known work around is to either sign out & sign back in or turn itunes match off & then turn it back on again!

That's not entirely true.  There is another work-around, which is to disable iTunes Match.  I'm not being cynical in saying that; if more people would show their displeasure by canceling the service, trust me, Apple will get the message.

For me, I continue to use iTunes as my favorite music manager, including Apple iTunes store purchases, as well as ripped tracks from CDs I buy and high-res tracks I download.  Until Apple fixes iTunes Match to accommodate the above use cases, I'm not interested.  I was spending WAAAAYYY too much time staring at the barber pole while Apple tries to update Match, so I could do things like update meta data or add new songs to playlists.

FWIW, I've transitioned to Google Play Music for roaming access to my entire collection - it's free, it works like a charm, really, and the iPhone app is a joy to use.  As always, YMMV.

It's 05/02/2014 at 10:32am ET and I am still having issues with my Mac and PC. Not too happy right now.
