Q: Itunes match stuck at sending information to apple

Anyone else having issues tonight? Once a week the iTunes match seems to auto run the info gathering and send to apple. Normally it works fine although can be a but slow to get a response from apple sometimes. Tonight it just won't go past 'sending information to apple'. Each time I start iTunes it gathers the info to try again. Anyone else getting similar? My library has not changed in weeks so it can't be anything like that. I guess server issues at apples end?

Cheers

I've also been having this issue, for the past 3 days or so. First encountered it on my work PC, then my secondary personal laptop (also a PC), and my primary personal machine, a 13" MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Having encountered this across OSs, I can definitely say it is worse on the two PCs than it is on the Mac (go figure). iTunes on the MBP was struggling last night, but a newly added album had been matched by the time I woke up this morning, so it obviously connected to the service at some point. Comparatively, the PCs have thrown more errors and rarely (if ever) connect to the service since the problem began. In all scenarios, it gets caught on "Sending information to Apple" for longer than I've come to expect.

    Specific Errors & Troubleshooting Attempts

    - Since the outage, attempts to connect have resulted in the "lost network connection" pop-up as well as errors 4001, 4002 and 4010 (all within a 24 hour period)

    - Tried: turning off/turning on iTM; restarting computer and doing this again; signing out/back in and then turning on iTM; uninstalling and repeating these steps; probably some other attempts that I'm forgetting at the moment. Basically, no solution mentioned by anyone in any forum I read was working.

    - 10% of the time or less, iTunes EVENTUALLY connects to Match, but only after 15-30 minutes stuck at "Sending information to Apple"...

iTM had been running pretty smoothly for months now. I do remember experiencing a similar issue, back in late 2012, which was incredibly frustrating. It may be that Apple is doing some covert maintenance on the service to gear up for September, but it's nonetheless an unnecessary pain. Bottom line is: we're paying for this service, it should work seamlessly. And if not, we need to be notified or reimbursed (I know, this wouldn't amount to much $$ back, it's more so the principle of the matter).

LOVE this service and am happy it's available, I just wish it would work consistently, and that outages would be addressed more expediently.

    Hi,

I thought that things were working for me but it looks as though I have spoke too soon.

I had the same problems as everyone else - lasted for 2/3 hours. Eventually got everything working - had a couple of issues where matched tracks failed to download.

Shortly after posting earlier, i'm back to square one.

I can also report that I was able to successfully connect last night here and there. This morning it's a no-go.

The problem is obviously on Apple's end, so I will reiterate my advice from earlier in the thread: do NOT try any of the "solutions" from other older threads for similar problems such as turning off/on iTunes Match (your library will need to be re-scanned, which can result in some annoying tagging inconsistencies between what's on your machine and what's on the cloud) or throttling your router's outbound traffic. Neither of these will fix the current problem, and you'll just be wasting your time and increasing your frustration. Just wait it out for now.

It's just finally worked for me!

Took about 15 minutes at stage one but when i cam back it was ploughing through stage 2 and then went on to 3 with no glitches.

Now, the question is, do I add the two 1 hour dance tracks or leave it alone?

Think I just answered my own question there...

    Hi,

I would call it a day and comeback next day.

I was able to get my second computer connected. The library on this machine only has music that is in the cloud. Went back to my main computer. Tried holding shift key whilst turning off match. Did not get past step one before losing connection.

I decided to retrieve a time machine back up from around an hour before problems started again. Now signed back into match. I have not tried to add anything. Will leave until tomorrow.

    Hi Jim,

That's exactly what I intend to do. Take a full backup image and enjoy what I have over the weekend.

No sense in breaking it again lol.

Definitely DON'T try to solve any problems by trying to "fix" your computer, it's not your computer, it's the iTunes Stores/iTunes Match. Mine has been spotty at best, and this is the 3rd day of inconsistent connections. Just guess we'll have to WAIT because regardless of what Apple's system status says, it's definitely not working. At the mercy of Apple.

    Same here, stuck with failures.

What is frustrating is that Apple are reporting there is no fault.  Hey Apple, its OK to have a problem, we can all relax while you fix it.  Update your status and tell the truth for once, its fine not to be perfect all the time.

Spoke with an Apple rep...wasn't sure what is causing the issue but did the following and iTM is working again.

    1.Restart Mac

    3.Open iT

    2.Turn off iTM

    3.Sign out of iT store

    4.Sign back in

    5.Turn on iTM

Hopefully this works for others...was super frustrated when I couldn't get mine working!
