Itunes not recognizing my ipod on new mac

Hey all,

Just got a new macbook pro and I am trying to put my music onto itunes. So I downloaded the latest itunes. Well now whenever I pull up itunes there is no music at all on the screen. But when I click on my ipod and then click "on this ipod" it recognizes all my music. I am logged in under my apple ID. I havent done anything different but itunes will not recognize my music. When i got to sync my music, it says there are 0 songs when there should be 82. I am so lost and do not know what to do. I'm sure this post is very confusing to readers as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can I take my macbook into the genius bar and have them help me?

Your personal data, including music, will not just appear on your new Mac. You must put it there. See the following Apple KB articles.

Simply, copy the entire iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer and place it in ~/Music.
