Q: Itunes buttons are all grey and not clickable

I just updated my itunes to and none of my music is there. Okay. So I went to put it back in my itunes library and it acts if if its transferring to the library then doesnt show up. So I transferred the purchases from my ipod and it did the same thing. Still no music. It wont let me change tabs. My ipod is hooked up and synable but I cannot click on my ipod. the button is grey. As are the songs, albums, artists and so ons buttons. The only things that I can click on are the file, edit and view buttons and the square menu button in the top left corner. This is very frustrating and not the first time this has happened. It happened on my laptop yesterday and then my laptop crashed and has a corrupted sytem startup file.
