Can I assign a shortcut key to a certain font (say, Times)?
I need to switch between Arial and Times frequently. (Major texts are Arial and special notes are Times.) Is there a way to assign a shortcut key to Times? Any add-ons capable of this?

No, but..
You can set up your document with the font changes built in, as shown in this example:
When you're done, Cleanup is pretty simple:
Full cleanup would, of course, include correcting the pair of typos in the final paragraph and the final speial note, aas well as the second pass of F-R to remove the remaning 'Txx ' tags.

Make a Style for each in the Styles Drawer and allocate an F-key in the style.

Sorry maybe I did not describe my problem clearly. I wish to be able to switch between Arial and Times quickly as I type, or to apply Times to individual words quickly by selecting the word and hit a keyboard shortcut. Times are usually applied to a single word inserted in a whole paragraph in Arial.
Thank you Peter! Can I do something similar in Keynote?
I am not so familiar with Keynote but on quick inspection I can find no equivalent of Styles/Styles Drawer.

I searched the forum and found that the best way to do it in Keynote may be Copy Style and Paste Style (and assign the keyboard shortcuts thru System Preferences).
