Q: 2 airports working together.

I have the new airport extreme (the large model) and the previous one (the "apple tv" design).

If i connect them together i do get the wireless network from both; but the quality *****...  no download and nearly no upload speed. The airport config programm shows green dots behind the airports.... 

I try below to descripe how the connections are. Tell me please. What am i doing wrong
