For no apparent reason, Firefox is blocking a particular website on my iMac -www.ellenmacarthurfoundation.org. Seems to be a local issue...

One paticular website www.ellenmacarthurfoundation is blocked when I try to access it on my iMac when using Firefox or Safari. This does not happen with any other website. I have checked with the site and they have no issues at their end so it is definitely something to do with my machine but I don't understand or trust any of the advice I have been given so far. help!

Not too familiar with FF add-ons, but some Safari add-ons can block otherwise "normal" sites. What do you have in FF and Safari in the way of extensions? In FF, type: about:addons into the address bar and see what that page shows for extensions, appearance, and plug-ins.

In Safari, go to Safari > Preferences and select the "Extensions" tab.

It must be some setting, because I just successfully hit that site from Safari 6.0.5 on a newer Mac running OS 10.8.

Do you have trouble accessing any other sites? If not, it might be worth a call to your internet service provider to see what settings they recommend.

I posted a "Bat Signal" to some FireFox gurus to take a look at this.

You should put "(Mac--but not necessarily only Mac)" in the topic question. Most are Windows Firefox people, but there are several excellent Mac helpers there. And maybe it's not specific just to Mac. No need to register; you can post as a guest.

EDIT: BD, I can go to the site, but the IP6 test URL won't connect and I don't have IPv6 enabled.
