i can receive emails but can not send it keeps telling me i am off line

My provider changed to yahoo mail and my Imac seemed to be ok. Now it will only receive emails and not allow me to send any. Been through all settings with Sky(provider) and they are set correctly. When I try to sen an email it comes up with unable to send, server off line. Could any one help me sort this out?
