Loading photos from pc to photo stream...how long until they load?

I copied the downloaded photos from my camera to the hard drive and now I'm trying to upload them into the Photo Stream I created on my phone seing it through the PC iCloud Program. Is there another step to do or will they load eventually by themselves?

From the PC. The Photo stream was created on my iPhone 4S. I can load photos no problem when they are on the phone, just having trouble when the photos are coming from file folders on the PC from our digital camera. We have a HP with windows Vista. I downloaded the iCloud manager and have all the photo streams turned on for all of our devices like the Apple instructions say for PCs. Not sure why after the copied photos were loaded into the Photo stream folder on the PC that the do not show on the photo stream on our iPhones. There is where I am having the snag.

Photo stream supports Jpeg, png, Tiff and most Raw formats, so make sure your file format is one of these. Then, to add your photos to photo stream, do the following:

Open Windows explorer, select Photo Stream under Favorites on the left sidebar,:

User uploaded file

Click on Photo Stream, then to the right double-click on My Photo Stream. Click on Add Photos on the top the menu bar:

User uploaded file

Select the photos you want to import, then click Open.
