Mac running slow - Not loading web pages

Something is wrong with my Mac. Out of the blue, over the last few days, it is running extremely slow. Web pages won't load or if they finally do it takes forever. The little spin wheel just keeps going. Sometimes a page will load after a very long time but as I scroll down, only part of the page is there and the rest never loads. I'm on a wireless connection. My husbands PC and my iPad are working just fine so it's not the connection. Any thoughts on what is wrong and how to fix it? Have not made any changes to my computer. No new software, updates, etc.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

You are using Safari to surf the web?

If so, try emptying the cache more often ..

Command + Option + E

Then quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that doesn't help, try troubleshooting extensions and third party plug-ins.

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that off if there are any installed. Quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn extensions back on then uninstall one a time to test.

If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

I'm having the same issue with both of my macs. I've been to several forums and they all give the same advice you have given here. I clear the history, cookies, cache every day now. I have plenty of storage. Speed is fine. AdBlocker is my only extension (have had it or years with no problem). I have 4 gigs of RAM. Still it takes about 30 to 40 seconds to load a page. Again, this is happening on both my macs. I reset my cable modem and wireless router, still no change. Any other suggestions? It's happening on Safari, Chrome, and Firefox.
