Hi,

Seriously how many times do you have to be told. It was made legal with many other VOIP on 12 April 2012. iPhones can be generally bought worldwide and used worldwide. If a country has restrictions stated by LAW then like any obiding citizen they would obide by those laws.
For the last time KiltedTim who does not live in Oman or know their laws it is not illegal to use an iPhone in Oman. At a count I have found 6 x Apple Re-sellers that sell both UK and UAE iPhones.....it's a choice, English Expat UK model or UAE.
There is no law like the UAE, do your research!!
I see a pattern. As the story goes the large Billy Goat wins...
I'll tell you what... you win. I'll go away. It's not worth arguing. You obviously don't understand the fundamental reality that lies at the root of your "problem". Why don't you just take the phone in to your carrier and ask them to help you make facetime work?...
Hello Everyone,
Any news about this issue?
I have the exact same problem (everybody seems to have it anyway). I bought my Iphone4 in Europe when living there 2 years ago. From the moment I got in Oman and the beginning of August, FT was working perfectly. Since I got back from my holidays (in Europe), a couple of weeks ago, the service doesn't work anymore.
I just sent an e-mail to both Omantel and the TRA like you guys did... They will probably give me the exact same answer but at least it will be one additional person reporting this problem to them...
Keep us posted if you get any info.
Cheers.
Yeah, he's such a troll, with at least 2700+ posts that people have rated as 'helpful' or 'question solved'. LOL
Do what Kilted Tim said. Take the phone in to your carrier and tell them you want FaceTime to work. Let's see how far that gets you.
As most people have said they have taken their iPhones to the Carrier (Omantel). They don't know seem to know, all they changed was my APN mobile data settings to 'taif' which didn't help.
The carrier, TRA and Apple say it should be working but it's not.
Hi La tote.
Thanks for getting involved. I wish more people would get on at omantel. It's obvious the problem lies with them or at least they are the ones able to help sort this issue.
They are currently choosing to ignore me. They opened up a complaint reference number but now are just not responding. I am not giving up. I am sending them reminders everyday both via email and twitter. If more people do the same they may finally have to stand up and listen.
Surely Omantel cannot bury their heads to customers issues forever, can they!!!?
LOL, u would be surprised how indifferent Omantel can be. I have been having issues with my internet connection for the last one year with the number of times my internet gets disconnected. They havent resolved it yet. And i keep calling them every week.
On a different note, has anyone been able to activate their imessage or facetime to their phone numbers. And if u have iphones, in the settings, phone, do u see ur phone number or does it say unknown. Mine used to show my number but recently it started saying unknown and i am not able to activate my imessage to my phone number.
Exact same (With Iphone 4 and Hayyak Omantel). No unknown, no iMessage, no FT
So we have come full circle. As was stated back at the very beginning of this thread. It is blocked by the government.
The answer is yes. Have you can use any VPN to use Apple FaceTime and FaceTime audio. For example, Spotflux VPN. It is free and easy-to-use
Hi there...
I tried number of VPN apps to use facetime, but without any success. The VPN which i used were spotflux, VPN express, OPENvpn...
Can anyone suggest a VPN thru which i can use facetime ???
Appreciate your response.
Cheers.
Mr. Asif. Spotflux VPN works fine and it is unlimited too. Install it from itunes and connect by setiings- VPN. Which ISP is yours BTW?. By far, spotflux works fine with Nawras 3G.
