MacMail-Comcast--120,000 messages....GOING CRAZY!

THINGS I'VE TRIED:

Disk Utility Verify permissions--no repairs needed

I spent an entire day deleting all saved messages from the Comcast Server, where the Inbox is now completely empty.

I deleted the Comcast Account from MacMail. Re-created it, no luck.

I deleted the entire Mail application, restored it from Time Machine, from before this problem started.

No luck.

Today it's only 20,000, though, and many of them are completely blank, came in the middle of the night, and don't exist on the Comcast server.

And I get the "mail not responding message" every other minute. MacMail won't let me simply Select and Delete all the messages.

COMCAST, believe it or not, solved the problem:

This is one of the work around steps

1) Get Apple Mail to reindex your Emails

2) - quit the Mail App

3) - go to ~/Library/Mail/ inside your homefolder and delete the file

4) “Envelope Index”

5)- start Mac Mail
