Jan 2, 2014 4:39 AM in response to thatkidfromcanadaby dbakker,The keys that stopped working for me are also exactly the same. tab, delete key, down arrow and space bar!
How can this happen to more and more keyboards?
What to do? just buy a new one? demand a replacement in the store?

Jan 2, 2014 5:05 AM in response to dbakkerby satish gowda,Is ur machine under warranty? if yes i would suggest u to get it replaced under warranty soon. And as for ur problem is concerned apple's magic keybord cannot intentionally go wrong as it is hardcore piece of marvel by Apple. U c they can only go wrong if there is liquid spill or hard usage or a battery leakage. Even if u accidently bash it on an hard surface it would still work leaving behind dent(depending on the impact), provided should not fall with key's facing the surface. So stop complaining and find the culprit who might have spilled liquid or any liquis foriegn material on the top case without ur notice. Coz only a liquid spill can damage the firmware. just a suggestion, dont use rubber made cover for the keyboard as even moisture formation can lead to liquid attack also use chargable batteries. Jan 2, 2014 6:12 AM in response to satish gowdaby amonster00,Look mr know it all, before you start telling someone to stop complaining you better understand something - there is something wrong with the software clearly because guess what...when I'm in a URL address bar or a form with fields all those keys that I mentioned didn't work (tab, delete/backspace, down arrow) all work perfectly fine. So since you know so **** much about apple keyboards, mr mighty one, please, please explain how it can be the hardware when these **** keys do work but they don't work when I'm typing an email or in this **** comments box.
Thanks for your intellectual feedback

Jan 10, 2014 9:32 PM in response to thatkidfromcanadaby LocoDJ,Same thing here. 2009 iMac and wireless keyboard had keys go dead, I cleaned it and then more keys went dead. Jus t bought new wireless and guess what--t he s and t he x are dead. I had to plg my old usb keyboard back in. This is ABSOLUTELY an Apple software problem. I am running OSX 10.9.1 and hope Apple addresses this issue very soon. I may just have to revert to a wired keyboard. How inconvenient. Apple has been going downhill for the last year. They just aren't paying attention.

Jan 11, 2014 5:45 PM in response to thatkidfromcanadaby eliannaj,I expected to find a solution and am astounded that all these keyboards are giving out in a similar way in the same timeframe instead.
Like others I did nothing that I could pin it on, but all of a sudden the capital 'c' will not register. I'm taking it into the store on Monday and will repost if I get any solutions.

Jan 15, 2014 2:06 AM in response to LocoDJby iRideApple,Same here, iMac 2009 wireless Keyboard, over 3 years nothing, now iMac 2009 and Mavericks.. some keys not working anymore.
I try to connect this wireless Keyboard to my iMac 2013 Mountain Lion, but I can't as my ENTER not working anymore, so paring can't be done.
Not good.. not good...

Feb 22, 2014 5:09 PM in response to iRideAppleby Steven Moore,Okay I thought my keyboard was a battery issue but after changing batteries and the other procedures it must be the keyboard.
It's now got so bad it wont stay properly connected for an hour. Its says its connected but the unit looses uppercase T and the mac won't register two keys at once ie two arrow keys. It will only take input from one at a time. It then wont input at all. Disconecting switching off etc will get it to connect eventually.
The keyboard is almost five years old so I'm not too annoyed about it's demise but I don't want to buy another only to find it's not the keyboard but either the Mac or interference.
Did anyone who got a replacement find it fixed the problem?

Feb 22, 2014 5:19 PM in response to Steven Mooreby eliannaj,Hi, Steven,
I had an identical problem with wireless keyboard for my iMac. 2 1/2 or 3 years of no problems, then the capital 'c' would absolutely not work.
I went to the trouble of replacing the keyboard which had the same exact problem.
Last week I took the old keyboard to an Apple store and the guy hooked it up to their guest computer. Guess what? the capital 'c' works just fine.
Returned the new keyboard, discovered that if I turn on caps lock I can get a capital 'c' out of it and am using that as my workaround for the time being.
It appears that the iMac itself is the culprit. The Apple guy suggested that I try to reset the entire computer, which means basically shutting it down, disconnecting the plug from the wall for about 10 minutes and then starting the whole thing up again.
I had to set up a number of things again from scratch, but this process didn't work for me. Maybe you will have better luck.

Feb 22, 2014 6:03 PM in response to eliannajby Steven Moore,Thanks tried all that stuff, PRAM, SMC, even erased and reinstalled mavericks.
My keys come back again after unpairing repairing etc.
I tried pairing it to my ipod and had the same result the uppercase T disappeared.
Maybe someone else could try that one too.
It also is missing if I start in safe mode, when it's in it's missing mode.
Since your replacement exhibited the same problems I'm thinking a USB replacement may be wiser.

Feb 23, 2014 5:15 AM in response to Steven Mooreby LocoDJ,I almost positive that the culprit is the Mavericks OS. Some of the keys on my wireless stopped working after the last Mavericks update. Bought a new wireless, same problem, just different keys not working. Hooked up the keyboards to my Kindle and the same keys still did not work. Sent the wireless back and got the latest, wired, usb keyboard. Everything works fine now, keyboard wise, but my 2009 iMac is running ultra slow. This is an Apple problem, they just don't have the magic anymore.

Feb 23, 2014 6:06 AM in response to LocoDJby Steven Moore,You may be right about Mavericks. The thing is why did it still not work with the kindle?
Could mavericks have updated the firmware on the keyboard, if there is updateable firmware on the keyboard, and that's where the fault lies? The firmware could be bugged which makes sense.
If you look here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3932?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
10.6.3 updates the firmware so Mavericks could have too.

Feb 23, 2014 6:21 AM in response to Steven Mooreby LocoDJ,Yes, that is what I think. I did not realize at first that the keyboard could be updated with an OS upgrade, but it seemed that Mavricks 'implanted' something in both wireless keyboards that has rendered them useless, unless they can be 'wiped' back to normal function. Perhaps the firmware update is what made the iMac rum slower, as well. From reading the many issues in these forums it seems very logical that incompatibilities with certain machines, like the 2009 iMac intel with the 27 in or 24 in screens got hit the hardest. I keep wanting to go back to 10.6.8 which is what I have on my 2006 macBook 13in. I probably won't upgrade the laptop until absolutely necessary, and maybe not even then. Hopefully Apple will figure this out and create a download or utility to fix these all to common issues. Thanks for the support link and for your replys. Stay in touch if you learn more.

Apr 24, 2014 6:11 AM in response to thatkidfromcanadaby Ana Saúde,This week happened to me the same. Caps Lock, Space bar; BackSpace; down Arrow don't work, suddenly.
2009 iMac 24.
I have Mavericks, but I tried to pair it with other computer with Snow Leopard, and it din't work either. So i'm not sure if it is Mavericks culprit.
Does anyone have the solution and fixed the problem?
Thanks

Apr 25, 2014 3:28 AM in response to Ana Saúdeby iRideApple,Hello,
I had iMac 2009 with wireless keyboard with out problems, when mavericks came BAM! I lost some keys and one of the key was Enter key, so I did not have change to even pair it any more.
Solution to me was call to Apple, and I all ways paid Apple care, so I was barely out of warranty, so I told my story, and only fix to me was new keyboard, Apple send me new under warranty, and now it works again.
This new wireless keyboard was model labeled 2011, and maybe old ones suffers A bug at Mavericks?
