Copy text from an email

I just purchased my first iPad, although I have been an Apple user for years. My question is this...I would like to copy and paste text from an email into a document for saving, or just save a whole email as a .pdf. Is there any way to do this easily? I can't seem to copy and paste from an email on my iPhone and am a bit cofused. I would also like to copy and paste certain passages from books, or web sites. Any suggestions as to the best apps to do this type of thing? Thanks

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

To copy and paste from email, or a web page, assuming what you are dealing with is actually text and not an image:

Tap and hold on a the section of text. Expand the selected area by dragging the blue handles to include everything you want. Tap Copy on the pop up menu. Go to the app and file you wish to copy into. Tap and hold, tap paste. On some platforms, it is possible to prevent copying on a webste, but that isn't typical.

As far as I know, using the native mail app, it is not possible to convert directly to PDF. You should, however, be able to copy into a third party app that can create/edit PDFs.

in iBooks, the process is pretty much the same. However, depending on restrictions set up by the book's publisher, you are often limited in the amount of text youcan copy, and sometime restricted from copying at all. Again, the publisher sets this, not Apple.

You can't send the email directly to the app.

The workaround is .... Copy the text, then launch Save 2 PDF. When you launch the app a pop up window will ask if you want to print from the clipboard or cancel. Select Print, and then you can choose Convert to PDF.

I use this app and its helper app on my iMac so that I can print from my iPad to the ancient HP laser printer that is connected via USB to my ancient iMac running OS X 10.4.11 in my office. There limitations, but it works for my needs for printing from my iPad. The helper app is called WePrint and it is a free download.

I don't even have WiFi here. I set up my WiFi network using Internet Sharing on the Mac and I can use the iPad, the printer, the whole nine yards ...without a WiFi router.

Just an FYI, I can still access iCloud.com on this ancient iMac running Tiger. I will get the "unsupported browser" message, but I ignore it, and move forward with what ever I want to do in iCloud.

These are not the most elegant solutions, but they do work.

I have an app called (appropriately enough) Save 2 PDF. I can copy an email and save it to a PDF with this app. Hence the name .... Save 2 PDF.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/save2pdf/id399758218?mt=8

Many users around here rave about GoodReader. I don't have the app but I assumed that with the glowing reviews I have read about it, you could save an email to a PDf with that app as well

Curious. Works fine - even the beta - on all of the browsers I have on the windows machine here at the office, but seems happier with Chrome (28.0.1500.95). I've only tried it on Safari on the MBP at home. iWorks doesn't appear to like iCab on the iPad, but the rest sorta functions.

I've noticed that as well.

We are way OT now, (gee we never do that .... ๐Ÿ˜€) but the most recent upgrades to iCab Mobile have caused some issues for me. I constantly have to sign in again here the ASC if I go longer than 30 minutes or so without posting. That never used to happen before the latest update to iCab. Could be something I'm doing wrong, but if it is, I haven't figured it out yet.

Have you explored iCab's settings (of which there are about 5000 ๐Ÿ˜) could be something added there on the last update.

The iCab settings make me woozy because there are so many of them to look through. It scares me just to have to go into the settings. ๐Ÿ˜

I handle advanced enterprise system configurations on a daily basis, and iCabs settings confuse the **** out of me.
