How do I replace adobe flash player for Mac OSX 10.6.8 after I have uninstalled

I tried to update my intel Mac OSX 10.6.8 for the latest version of adobe flash player without realising that there were problems with Adobe and Mac OSX. I have tried all the suggestions and eventually uninstalled adobe altogether. Neither did I realise that there was a Malware problem and I think this may have affected my iMac. I would like to reinstall a previous original WORKING versionbut I do not know where to find this. I no longer care if its up-to-date.

Can anyone please help.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), My Mac has been upgraded to Leopard

The version Adobe has on their web site should be just fine.

If by "malware" you're thinking of the Flashback trojan, that came through a fake Flash installer. It was not a problem with Flash itself, and can easily be avoided by downloading the Flash installer directly, and only, from Adobe's site. If you believe your system may still have the Flashback trojan, see:

I tried to update Flash Player to the latest version as per the instructions on the Adobe site. Unfortunately, I have tried to download it at least half a dozen times now but have been unable to do so. Each time I have followed this up by uninstalling it as outlined. Unfortunately now I dont have my "old" version either, as the instructions in the "problem solving" notes tell you to uninstall any older versions. I have an older iMac intell which has been upgraded and runs Leopard. I decided that enough was enough and I would, if possible, download an older version rather than try yet again to get the update. So much so that I am determined not to even try to update my Macbook!!!

And you're still not telling us where things are failing for you. Are you installing from the disk image but not seeing Flash content? If that's the case, you may just not have the plugin activated in your web browser. If you have Safari 5.1, go to the Security preference pane in Safari and make sure that "Enable Plug-Ins" is checkmarked. Similar settings will be present in other web browsers, so check those as well.

Otherwise, you'll need to tell us exactly the problem you're experiencing.

I have checked my Security preferences and they are already enabled (Safari v. 5.1.9). Having checked my applications folder, I do have a file named "Java Preferences" listed there. I have also disabled Java in Firefox.

I have tried to download yet again and Java told me that the download was successful. However, when I tried to use it, I was told that it had not downloaded. I went into my console log which showed the following (I hope this is helpful) ........

I tried to use my bt broadband checker but this stated that I needed to download Flash Player!!!! Unfortunately it seems that I have no alternative but to try and download it ..... otherwise I would not bother.

Hope this gives you a full picture.

Click on the Desktop, select Finder->Preferences from the menubar, select General and select Hard disks under Show these items on the Desktop. Then, it should show in the upper right-hand corner.
