Yes, I was referring to drag n' drop on the sidebar. That does not work.

Also, I will tell you that none of these things work because I would not be writing on this discussion board if these options did work. Please do not be cheeky.I've been using itunes for over 6 years, but the newest version is quite different and its frustrating as things are not working as they are supposed to according to the online tutorials.

There is no "add folder" and there is no "add file." I went to "help" and searched for it, they are not there in itunes. I don't know what you are referring to when talking abotu "menu."

Nonetheless, I don't understand why I can't drag and drop my music as I used to eb able to and I cannot do it now.

I want this to work, and I'd be grateful if you could advise me how to transfer music from my itunes on my macbook air to on my iphone as well as delete playlists on my iphone.

Thanks.

If you can't see "Add folder" and "Add file" there, you must have a very old version of iTunes. I of course suppose we are dealing with iTunes 11.

I can only imagine that the MEDIA folder is either not set or on a drive/path, where iTunes can not access it or has not enoogh user rights for. This may make iTunes block you from adding or drag 'n drop.

If you say you can transfer to your nano (I also got one, nice thingy, huh?), then you seem to not use the library for the nano. Do you actually have files in your library? I was referring to drag 'n drop to put files from anywhere on HDD into the library by this method. For the library, have you tried the setting about copying files? Perhaps this could work, because iTunes would not copy everything to MEDIA folder. What about apps? Can you download and install? Are they in the MEDIA folder?

Going back to your original post:

How do you generally did it in the past? Drag 'n drop (means manually) or by syncing?

Go to iTunes menu File > Add to library...

If you have the left sidebar displayed (iTune menu View - Show Sidebar) drag the songs from the iTunes window to the iPhone on the left.

If the left sidebar is NOT displayed, select and drag songs to the right. A right sidebar will appear with your iPhone at top and playlists below. Drag top your iPhone.

There is no "add to" button in itunes to transfer music to iphone.
