You really cannot print from iPad or iPhone apps!

Google maps still doesnt have this functionality as you can see here.. https://support.google.com/maps/answer/144343?hl=en

But Apple maps does..

Zoom ln on the map to the size you want to print.

Then put a pin somewhere by long touching a spot.

Touch the ping and you will see the share icon

Where AirPrint will appear

I have no idea what you are basing this claim on. I have an AirPrint printer that will print from any app that has printing as an option and I have two other printing apps that I can use to print from other apps.

Perhaps if you explained which apps you're having difficulty printing from, someone could help you figure out where you've gone wrong. I realize troubleshooting takes a bit more work than ranting, but, in the end, it's more satisfying.

If you want to print what appears on an iPad screen but the app does not have a "share" icon, take a screenshot and print it.

To print directly from an iPad you need an AirPrint - enabled printer on the same wireless network as the iPad. All AirPrint printers are wireless but not all wireless printers are AirPrint-enabled.

If you do not have an AirPrint printer, a number of workarounds exist that enable the use of any printer you normally use, even older ones that may predate AirPrint by decades. Search for the following products:

handyPrint (Mac only, donation-supported)

Printopia (Mac only, $19.95 with free trial)

These are utilities you install on the Mac you normally use for printing, enabling it to act as an AirPrint print server. The Mac must be "on" but may be asleep for them to work. The iPad needs nothing else, no iOS apps need to be installed and no configuration is necessary. If your computer can print, so can the iPad, using one of these utilities on your Mac.

Equivalent utilities may exist for PCs but I have no experience with them - I suggest https://www.collobos.com

You can also buy this standalone hardware print server, bypassing the need for a computer altogether:

If the developer of an app doesn't include the print function, there's not much you can do other than contact them and suggest it.

At just a quck look, apps that I have from which I can print: Drafts, Evernote, Photos, Numbers, Pages, Gmail, Weathertron. I'm sure more of them do but the point is made.

I use handyprint and it works quite well. The thing that gets me is:

1. I have an iPad 4 running iOS 7

2. I use handyprint and am able to print from any app that offers print functionality

I must be missing something, because I do NOT see any way to print from the Google Maps app on my iPad. They don't seem to offer that option. I was able to find the print function on Apple's Maps app...

Could someone please point out what I'm missing - or is Google providing semi-useless apps to Apple users?

Who knows, but I strongly suspect Google is more interested in developing Android apps that track your every movement, rather than developing for a competitor whose devices actually respect your privacy.

If you want to print google maps, take a picture of your map, mail it to yourself, and print it out as an email. Prints a good sized map.
