Lost all music in library after changing location of music folder

I never like the new itunes. Made it much harder to share files nicely with windows media player. I tried to make them play nicely by changing Itunes' Media location and changing the windows media player to that location. After i created that new folder, i went and deleted the old group of folders. And soon after i went back to the library and everything was gone except for the music in WMP. I even went about to uninstalling Itunes and reinstalling it considering it is cloud based storage and nothing happened. Can I have some help getting music back because Apple won't. Much appreciated.
