Q: No wifi connections on iMac

I just got my computer back from apple, they replaced the motherboard and now for some reason I can't connect to wifi. When I go all the way to the router I get just about 2 bars   When I go to where my iMac usually is , there are no wifi signals in the airport list.  I know it's not out of range or the connection because I have my phone and iPad connected just fine.   And I can even see the other wifi signals available  in the area, on my iPad.   I can't figure out why there are no signals available.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

It may be possible that during the process of replacing the iMac's motherboard that the technician either did not connect or properly connect the built-in Wi-Fi antenna to the AirPort card. It will really depend on the exact model of iMac that you have, but you can get an idea by going to the iFixIt site and looking up your model. If this is the case I would first visit a local Apple Store (if available) to confirm your findings. Otherwise I would recommend that you contact Apple for futher instructions on, whether or not, you need to ship it back to them.

I was thinking the same thing.  When I spoke to apple CS months ago via email, he thought my kernal panics could be software or hardware. And wanted to make sure it wasn't from my own files.  But when I got the computer back, it was still crashing out of nowhere to the gray screen saying to shut down from some error.  And that was before the time machine backup finally worked. I'm beginning to wonder if they even put a new motherboard since it shut down for no reason, even aside from the airport issues.  It's definitely going back to apple
