MobileMe closed down well over a year ago. Did you ever migrate from your MM account to icloud?

On your macbook air, go to System Preferences and look in the Internet & Wireless section. Is there an icloud choice on the list, or do you only have MobileMe? If there's no icloud, tell us which version of OSX you have. It's not compatible with icloud and you will have to upgrade to 10.7.3 or later (10.8+). If you do have MobileMe as a choice in the preferences, click on it and choose to disconnect from it.

(looks like I'm too late also)

As other's have already mentioned, you need to be running OS X Lion (10.7.2 or higher) or Mountain Lion to access iCloud on your Mac. You can purchase an upgrade to Moutain Lion from the Mac App Store on your Mac if your Mac meets the minimum system requirements. If it doesn't, contact the Apple online store in your country to purchase a download key to download OS X Lion from the Mac App Store.

The system requirements for Lion are listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4949, and for Mountain Lion are listed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5444.

After upgrading, you will find iCloud in System Preferences (see http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html).
