If I set up my iPod as a new iPod on iTunes will I lose all of the content on my iPod?

I've had my iPod touch for about a year but I have never actually synced it with iTunes (I just used the iTunes app)

and now I'm wanting to sync it with iTunes so I can put more music on it

I was wondering if I set up my iPod as a new iPod on iTunes will I lose all of the content on my iPod?

If so, is there any other way to do this?

I just want to know so that I don't set it up as a new iPod and then I lose all of my stuff

Since a new ipod has no music on it, then restoring as new would mean that no music would be on it.

You should have been syncing with your computer from day one.

What are you afraid of losing?

Where did it come from if not your computer?

I might have synced it but I don't remember, but when I plugged it in iTunes came up and said "Welcome to your new iPod" and gave me the option of "Set up as a new iPod"

I'm afraid that I will lose my pictures, apps and music on my iPod

You will lose everything.

Import your pics as you would any digital camera. You should be doing this regularly.

Transfer itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
