My Ipod's home and sleep button are unresponsive. Help!

After downloading some music on my computer, I tried to sync my ipod (3rd generation). As it often does, it said my ipod didn't have enough space so I deleted skype through settings<general<usage. After that when I tried to use the home button, nothing happened. The sleep button didn't work either, but the volume buttons did. If I leave my ipod it will only get dark but will not fall asleep. I cannot access my updates or my app history thing. I'm not sure that if when I deleted skype it deleted some kind on critical software by accident. HELP!

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
