    The setting that you should have will depend upon what you want it to achieve (or you can have it turned off)

     

    From the iPad manual :

     

    1. Set iPad to Do Not Disturb: Go to Settings and turn on Do No Disturb. Do Not Disturb keeps alerts and notifications from making any sounds or lighting up the screen when the screen is locked. Alarms, however, still sound, and if the screen is unlocked, Do Not Disturb has no effect.
    2. To schedule quiet hours, allow specific people to call, or allow repeated FaceTime calls to ring through, go to Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb
