My iPod G4 power button stopped working suddenly

i woke up and was texting a friend and when i went to unlock the screen withe the lock button it did not work i tried it multiple times to no avail i would like to know what is wrong with my ipod i love this ipod so much and would hate to have a problem with it it is my prizzed possecion please try and help me

iPod touch (4th generation), iOS 6.1.3

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. (go through motions_Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store..
