Too many certificate requests to be valid

This question is regarding my MBP running MAC OS X 10.7.5 and it's recent anamoly of requesting connections to multiple security certificates when connecting almost ~any~ web page. My Network Monitor is Little Snitch. I have used it for about 3 years. Until recently, when I went to a web page, maybe one (1) certificate validation attempt would be requested. Now, there are many, many requests to connect to secure certificate sites. The process, ocspd, is requesting the connections. Any ideas what would be causing this?
