Q: 'Secure Empty Trash'

Many times when I try to secure empty trash, it takes several hours before it completes the task even though there is not that much in the trash?  Very frustrating because it seems to slow down the whole computer when it's trying to empty.  Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated. . .

 

I have an eMac computer with OS 10.4.11 system.  It just seems that there is something overloaded in the computer system that needs to be purged, etc.

    Why do you want to do a secure empty of Trash anyway?

     

    Personally I see that as a told waste of time.

     

    On that old and slow of a Mac of course it is going to take time. You are forcing the system to do a bunch of processing.
