Pushing a viewcontroller downwards

I would like to have my viewcontroller be pushed downwards because it has a texture that conjoins, making it look like one seamless graphic.

I tried to animate it using an answer to a similar question, though I consistantly get the following error:

(No vissible @interface for 'FirstViewController' declares the selector 'pushViewController:animated')

Any ideas on how to change the direction of a push animation so that the top falls down (not like a modal though)?

Thanks in advance, and please forgive me as I am new to Objective C and Xcode.
