iPad generations
I am new to iPads and am about to purchase one, but I want to know the difference between the 2nd Generation and the newest one? Money is an issue and I am seriously looking to buy a refurbished 2nd generation.

Thank you.
I am guessing that the 4th generation is faster with all of the bells and whistles (I am pretty computer tech ignorant). I just want something that I can surf the web, FaceTime, YouTube, use for GPS when traveling and maybe watch a movie on.. Do you think that the 2nd generation one with 3G will do fine for that? Also, do you know if the only way to add my pictures from my cameras would be to buy the additional adapter, or is there a usb port in the iPad that I can connect through? Thank you so much!
I would be very careful about purchasing any electronics item "refurbished". It would be fine if you purchase such an item directly from Apple, but often these "refurbished" items tend to not work exactly right.
There is no USB port on the iPad, so you would need the adapter to add photos directly from your camera. But if you sync your iPad to a computer, then you might be able to add photos that way. For example, if you have a Mac, you could import the photos from your camera into iPhoto on the Mac, and then sync from there to your iPad.
Thank you for everything! And, I am purchasing directly from Apple with the same warranty as a new one, so I think maybe I'll be okay...or so I hope. : }
Thanks, again!
Glad to help. I know you will enjoy your iPad!

Get a refurbished 4th Generation one from the Apple Store. And don't skimp on the memory (one never has enough). Refurbished is good and you'll probably get it directly from the factory (which is in ShenZhen China). You'll see your FedEx tracking all the way from China to your home.
Thank you so much!
I have the same concerns with you. We always wish to spend wisely but when it comes to buying an Ipad, be forward thinking and stretch a little bit and look at future needs because it will serve you well for at least 2 years.
