To be sure I understand. When working in the Windows environment, the system will still be secured from threats on the WWW. I hope that is an affirmative. Really hate to revert to the product, but I need to in support of a software. Thanks so much Allan.
Windows on the Mac requires AV software for protection
When loading the AV in the partition containing the Windows product, will it interfer or slow down the Mac side? Just recently had a real problem with McAfee installation that froze my activity and made it look like I was going to lose my HD. I had to uninstall it and now my Mac is back to normal.
Was the Windows partition made with BootCamp?
Allan
I will be making the partition with BootCamp.
Windows running in a Bootcamp partition is separate from the OSx partition. Running Windows in a Bootcamp partition requires antivirus software in Windows. This will not impact OSx. It is like you are running two separate computers, one Windows and one OSx. When you boot into OSx ity will run as it always has. When you boot into Windows it will run Windows.
Thank you BobTheFisherman and Allan. These responses answered my questions...Looks like I can not take advantange of Mac's security to defend the data within a Windows product regardless of it location on the Mac...Sad news indeed.
Yes. That is true. So many people thing that there is something magical about the Mac that will protect them when they run Windows which is not the case. If you are running Windows then you need to be protected.
