I have transfered some old videos from a pc onto my mac and there in AVI format but won't open in QuickTime. What do I do?
It has also broken up each video into multiple videos. Help!

Try VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
Or, install the Perian plug-in for Quicktime. It isn't being developed any more, but still works.
