is there any way to find my lost/stolen ipod if find my ipod is not turned on?

If you had a third party tracking application installed, you could use that. If not you could wait until your iPod was turned on and use the play sound, play message, and locate features to locate it. Chances are, if someone steals your iPod, they will turn it on eventually. Be sure to go to www.iCloud.com, log in, click on Find my iPhone, select your device, and have iCloud notify you by email when your device is found (turned on).

Only the old fashioned way

- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.

- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.

- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police

- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.

- Apple will do nothing without a court order

so if someone restored it I can never get it back? ever?

Only by finding the person the same way if they had your shoe. You chance of getting it back is slim to none.

im having the same problem i just lost my ipod touch 5 gen. like 2 hours ago im so bummed out! trying to do anything to my ability to get it back.. can some one help... my ipod is dead , but im signed into many apps such as yahoo, gmail, facebook , instagram, im signed into the app store... but i dont recall ever making an icloud.. is there still hope finding my ipod? please help.
