MacBook superdrive wakes form sleep

I have late 2006 blck MacBook with SuperDrive. When I sleep the unit, the drive makes the loading CD sound consistently, which wakes the computer and drains the battery.

Where do I start with troubleshooting?

OS and firmwares are up to date, I have reset VRAM and PRAM.
