I was given an itunes gift card and I don't need it - how can I see what the balance is so I can sell it to someone?

If it doesn't say it on it then as far as I know the only way to tell is to redeem it onto an account.
OK - the silver thing on the back hasn't been scratched off so more than likely it's still got the full amount right??
Yes, if the silver strip hasn't been removed then it hasn't been redeemed (unless somebody has managed to put one back on it). Once a card has been redeemed onto an account then the card is effectively zero, they can only be redeemed once.
How do I check a balance without actually redeeming it??? Usually there is a call in automated response system or website for other card brands. I have an electronic "card" number (gift card number purchased online) I want to give as a gift but I want to make sure I didn't already use it!
If it's an iTunes / App Store gift card you can't, if it doesn't have its value written on it the only well to see its value is to redeem it (assuming that it hasn't already been redeemed)
This is totally crap. The cards should have values written on the card then.
All of the cards I've bought have had their value on them.
