block usage of apps at certain times?
i am trying to block app usage at night by my 14 year old. It can't be done through the carrier, which is Verizon. He has the iphone 4, and has been up all night on imessage and facebook.

The only app I know that does this is called iTaketheiPhoneAwayatNight. It is a free app. It does get a lot of negative feedback.
There is nothing else available at this time and it would have to come from Apple. Tell them you want it: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
The app I use is called "take the phone away from your child at night"
On VZ, you can cut all data services at night, and schedule your wifi to stop all traffic too.
The takeaway app will get lots of negative feedback and may have them sneaking around trying to find other ways around the restrictions.
You might be able to schedule a more effective blocking method via Meraki's mobile device management, but you have to know what you're doing.
In research, you can block iMessage, Game Center, etc. and change the password remotely. Plus, you can put the phone in single-app mode which will restrict access at certain times of the night.
Overkill is underrated 😉 But there's no software to install on the computer, just load the profile on the phone and login the web-control center, that's it.
I have Meraki on my one phone in the event if it does get stolen, I can pull a ton of information from the phone very fast and the risk is a bit higher when at university.
I forgot to include the word "you" in the wifi blocking, routers have a user configureable option to suspend all internet access on a schedule.

I've heard it's a bit difficult to use and doesn't come with a manual.
She would have to install a network and configuration software to use Meraki, kind of overkill for one phone.
How does Verizon block WiFi?
