putting music on ipod

I purchased an album. It downloaded into my computer but I want it in my ipod and can't figure out how to get it there.

I need simple step by step instructions. For example; I don't know the difference between playlist and library.

I was able to Burn a CD of the album and remember years ago I could put songs from a CD onto ipod.

I can't see how to do that anymore either

Am absolutly lost.
