Just plug it in, if a new network connection appears it works, if not you are out of luck (but you will know quickly)

It may require Windows (certainly appears that way) but you can do no damage by trying.

But ... why do you need it, Mac Airs have WiFi built in.

Then use the built-in wifi capabilities of your computer.

Are you trying to use the Linksys because the MacBook Air WiFi does not support the requirements you have for the lab test?

That's an old piece of hardware now (came out over 3 or 4 years ago) - Cisco does not even officially support it for versions of windows other than XP and Vista. It was never supported under any release of OS X.
